VISA - INTRODUCTION
Thai citizens must have a valid visa to enter Sweden. The visa issued is a Schengen visa and are also valid for other Schengen countries which include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Austria.
To obtain a visa the Thai citizen must go in person to the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok and submit an application together with all necessary documents as indicated under Visa - Step by Step from the left menu.
Normally, all Thais with a valid passport and financial guarantee for the roundtrip air ticket and stay in Sweden can apply.
NOTE: Unless the Thai applicant can show solid finacial guarantee for him-/herself in the form of a letter from the bank, copy of bank statement or other, the financial guarantee can be a reference person in Sweden. See Visa - Step by Step for what documents are then needed.
A visa is normally granted for a maximum of 90 days, and is referred to as a tourist visa. NOTE: Other types of visas excist, but in this documentation we will only describe the tourist visa as this is the type of visa most Thais will travel on, and the visa type we offer help with filling in and completing in our office.
The processing time is around 5 - 7 working days from the day of applying. In some (rare) cases, the applications will be sent to the Swedish Migration Board for decision, in which case it can take around 1-3 months.
Complete documentation is always required as well as personal appearance at the Embassy by all applicants.
An incomplete application including incorrectly completed application forms may result in refusal, in which case a new application must be submitted. All documents have to be written in English.
