SCHENGEN VISA - GENERAL

Thai citizens must have a valid visa to enter the European countries. A Schengen visa are also valid for other Schengen countries which include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, The Czech Republic and Hungary.

A visa may be granted for a maximum of 90 days within a period of six months.

To obtain a visa the Thai citizen must contact and go in person to the relevant Embassy/Consulate in Thailand and submit an application together with all necessary documents.

Normally, all Thais with a valid passport and financial guarantee for the roundtrip air ticket and stay can apply.

An incomplete application including incorrectly completed application forms may result in refusal, in which case a new application must be submitted.

A medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Sweden and other Schengen states. You may provide either a policy from an insurance company based in Europe or in Thailand. Please note that only certain insurance companies in Thailand are accepted. See related files The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euro or 1 500 000 Baht and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons. The insurance must be vaild in all Schengen states and cover the total length of the visit.

The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The insurance certificate must be shown when the application is submitted. Please notice that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to checks at the border control while entering Schengen.

The visa fee is 60 Euro. The fee is paid in Bath and is updated according to changes in the exchange rate. The fee is not refunded if the application is rejected.
